Set Up an Emergency SOS Subscription - 385GWX and 385GW Dash Cam

This article explains what Emergency SOS (ESOS) is, how it works and how to set up an Emergency SOS subscription for the Nextbase 385GWX and 385GW Dash Cam using the Nextbase app.

When this applies

Use this article when setting up Emergency SOS for a 385GWX or 385GW Dash Cam.

Before you begin:

  • Make sure the Dash Cam is connected to your mobile device via Bluetooth.

  • Make sure the Nextbase app is installed.

  • An active Nextbase Protect subscription is required to use Emergency SOS.

What is Emergency SOS?

Emergency SOS is a safety feature that can contact emergency services if you are unresponsive following a serious incident.

Emergency SOS uses your Dash Cam and smartphone to provide your location and the medical information you have provided.

If a high G-force impact is detected, Emergency SOS will begin a 120-second countdown.

What happens during the 120-second countdown?

  1. A 120-second countdown begins.

  2. Audio alerts will play throughout the countdown.

  3. You can cancel the alert at any time by:

    • Pressing the Protect button on the Dash Cam, or

    • Cancelling the alert through the Nextbase app.

What happens when the countdown reaches zero?

If the countdown reaches zero without being cancelled:

  • An emergency request is sent.

  • You will be contacted to confirm whether help is required.

  • If you do not respond, emergency services are dispatched to your location using the details you have provided.

Set up Emergency SOS

  1. Open the Nextbase app on your mobile device.

  2. Tap Emergency-SOS.

  1. Tap Continue.

  1. Select the subscription plan that is best for you.

  2. Tap Start free trial.

  1. Complete your Emergency SOS profile.

  2. Enter the required medical details.

  3. Enter the required vehicle details.

Emergency SOS will only activate once the required information has been completed.

What to expect

Once your Nextbase Protect subscription is active and the required Emergency SOS profile information has been completed, Emergency SOS will be available for use with your 385GWX or 385GW Dash Cam.

If Emergency SOS detects a high G-force impact, the 120-second countdown process will begin.

Still need help?

If Emergency SOS does not appear in the Nextbase app:

  • Check that the Dash Cam is connected to your mobile device via Bluetooth.

If you cannot start a subscription:

  • Check that the Nextbase app is up to date.

If Emergency SOS setup is incomplete:

  • Open the Emergency SOS section of the Nextbase app.

  • Check that all required medical and vehicle details have been completed.
