When this applies
Use this article when you need to format the SD card used in a 385GWX or 385GW Dash Cam.
Before formatting the SD card, make sure you have backed up any footage you need to keep.
Process / information
Format the SD card using the Nextbase App
You must be connected to the Dash Cam before the SD card can be formatted through the Nextbase App.
Open the Nextbase App.
Select the More tab in the bottom-right corner.
Tap SD card analysis.
Select Erase SD card.
Format the SD card using a Windows computer
Right-click the SD card drive.
Select Format.
Select FAT32 or exFAT.
Uncheck Quick Format.
Select Start.
Format the SD card using a Mac
Open Disk Utility.
Select the SD card.
Select Erase.
Select FAT32 (MS-DOS) or exFAT.
Select Erase.
SD card maintenance
Regularly check the SD card for errors and reformat it every few weeks.
Avoid using the same SD card across multiple devices to prevent file system conflicts.
Replace the SD card periodically, especially if it shows signs of wear or reduced performance.
Use high-quality SD cards recommended by Nextbase to avoid compatibility issues.
What to expect
Once formatting is complete, the SD card is ready to be used with the 385GWX or 385GW Dash Cam.
