When this applies

Use this article if you see a “password incorrect” error when connecting to your 380GWX or 380GW Dash Cam.

If you receive this error, you will need to reflash the firmware on the Dash Cam.

Process / information

Before you start

Make sure:

  • You are using the USB cable supplied with your Dash Cam.

  • A compatible microSD card is inserted.

  • The Dash Cam remains connected to power during the update.

Update the firmware

  1. Press and hold the red exclamation mark (Protect) button on the Dash Cam.

  2. While holding the button, connect the Dash Cam to your computer using the supplied USB cable.

  3. Release the button when the Wi-Fi button starts flashing blue. This means the Dash Cam is in update mode.

  4. If the Dash Cam does not appear as a removable drive on your computer, disconnect it and repeat steps 1–3.

When the Dash Cam appears as a removable drive

  1. On Windows, open My Computer. On Mac, open Finder.

  2. Find the drive called NEXTBASE and double-click it.

  3. You should see folders named nextbase.com, nextbase.info and DCIM.

Download the correct firmware

  1. Download the latest firmware for your 380GW or 380GWX from the links provided in the support article or product support page.

  2. A .zip file will download to your computer.

  3. Open the .zip file and find the .bin firmware file.

  4. Copy the .bin file to the root of your Dash Cam's SD card. Do not place the file inside a folder or rename it.

Finish the update

  1. Safely eject the Dash Cam from your computer using Safely Remove on Windows or Eject on Mac.

  2. Put the Dash Cam back onto its mount and make sure the power cable is plugged into the mount.

  3. The red LED on the Dash Cam will flash quickly while the firmware updates.

  4. When the update is complete, the flashing will stop and the Dash Cam will return to normal operation.

Reconnect to your Dash Cam

After the update:

  1. Press and hold the blue triangle on the Dash Cam for 3 seconds.

  2. Find the 380 Wi-Fi network in your mobile phone's Wi-Fi settings.

  3. Enter the default password 12345678.

  4. Check the Cam Viewer app to ensure a secure connection.

Troubleshooting

If the Dash Cam does not appear as a drive on your computer:

  • Try another USB port on your computer.

  • Use a different USB cable if possible.

  • Disconnect and repeat the steps to enter update mode until the NEXTBASE drive appears.

If the red LED does not flash after copying the file:

  • Check that the .bin file is on the root of the SD card and not inside a folder.

  • Make sure the file name has not been changed.

  • Format the SD card after backing up important files, then copy the firmware file again.

What to expect

Once the firmware update is complete, the Dash Cam will return to normal operation.

You can then reconnect using the default Wi-Fi password 12345678.
