Changing the mount on your Dash Cam
This article walks you through the process of removing the Dash Cam from the powered mount, taking the adhesive mounting plate off, switching to the suction cup mount, and highlights the differences between adhesive and suction mounts.
Step 1
Pull the Dash Cam away from the windscreen by pulling it towards you.
Overview of Mounting Options
Nextbase Series 2 Dash Cams support two types of mounts:
Adhesive Mount: Uses a sticky pad for a permanent or semi-permanent attachment to the windscreen.
Suction Mount: Uses a suction cup for a removable and reusable attachment, ideal for switching between vehicles. Both mounts are compatible with the Click&Go PRO GPS mount, ensuring GPS functionality remains intact.
The suction mount uses a unique 3-pin connection and is not universal for non-Nextbase cameras. Ensure compatibility by checking your dash cam's mounting interface before purchasing.
Step 2
Slide the adhesive plate across (away from the small notch) to remove it from the powered mount, once removed, slide the replacement suction cup onto the mount in the opposite direction. Ensure you locate the small notch on the adhesive plate and use your thumbs to press against the edge for easier removal.
Step 3
When applying the suction cup mount to the windscreen (with Dash Cam attached), ensure the suction cup and windscreen surfaces are both clean. Apply pressure with the lever-arm open, then push the arm down until the mount locks into position. Additionally, test the suction cup’s grip by gently tugging it before driving to ensure it is securely attached.
Comparison: Adhesive vs. Suction Mounts
Adhesive Mount:
Provides a firmer, more permanent attachment.
Suitable for users who do not need to move the Dash Cam frequently.
Suction Mount:
Offers a removable and reusable option.
Ideal for users who switch the Dash Cam between vehicles or prefer a non-permanent fit.
FAQs
Does the suction cup mount include the full GPS or non-GPS mount?
No, the suction cup is only the suction arm/attachment. You need to attach your existing Click&Go mount (GPS or non-GPS version) to the suction arm.
Does switching to a suction cup mount affect the power lead connection?
No, the power lead continues to plug into the mount as usual. Switching to a suction cup mount does not change how the power lead connects to your dash cam.
Does switching mounts affect GPS functionality?
No, GPS functionality remains intact because it is integrated into the Click&Go PRO GPS mount, not the adhesive or suction attachment.
Are both mounts compatible with all Series 2 Dash Cams?
Yes, both adhesive and suction mounts are compatible with Series 2 Dash Cams, including models like the Nextbase 320XR and 322GW.
Extra tips
Use alcohol wipes and a microfiber cloth for a streak-free suction surface.
Test suction by gently tugging before driving.
Suction cups work best on smooth, curved windscreens.- Ensure the adhesive mount is applied to a clean, dry surface for optimal performance.
Avoid placing mounts on heavily tinted or uneven surfaces for better adhesion.
