What to do if your iQ dash cam is showing as offline

This article explains what to do if your iQ appears as offline in the iQ app. Offline usually means the app cannot contact the device because of a signal, power, or battery issue. This information is correct for iQ1K, iQ2K and iQ4K models.

Check the Power

If the iQ is not powering on, check the power connections first.

  1. Make sure the front power cable is securely connected to the main base of the iQ dash cam.

  2. Make sure the main power cable is securely connected through the OBD port or fuse box.

  3. If the iQ still does not power on, press the reset button on the top of the dash cam.

Low Power Cut off

The iQ has a low power cut-off to help protect the vehicle battery. The default low power cut-off is 12V, and if the vehicle battery drops below this level the iQ may switch off until the voltage rises again.

  1. Start or run the vehicle to help power the iQ back on.

  2. You can change the setting in the app if needed:

  • Open iQ Settings.

  • Tap Low car battery mode.

  • Go to Low power cut-off.

  • Select a new voltage level.

Always check your vehicle owner’s manual before changing this setting.

Check the Signal

If you are seeing red signal bars, the iQ is usually having trouble connecting.

  1. Reseat the antennas on the iQ dash cam.

  2. Press the reset button on the top of the iQ using a pen or pin.

  3. Move the vehicle to a different location, if possible, as poor signal coverage can stop the iQ from connecting.

Update the Firmware

To check for firmware updates:

  1. Open the iQ app.

  2. Tap the more tab in the bottom right (three dots or three lines).

  3. Go to iQ settings.

  4. Tap Firmware Update.

Extra Tips

  • Make sure the iQ mobile app is updated to the latest version.

  • Close the app fully and reopen it before trying again.

  • Restart your phone and the dash cam.

  • Check that your phone has a stable internet connection.

  • Allow camera and location permissions if the app asks for them.

  • If you have changed vehicles recently, check that the power setup is still correct.

  • Wait a few minutes after starting the vehicle, as the dash cam may take time to reconnect.

Troubleshooting

  • The dash cam still shows as offline: Disconnect the dash cam from power for 30 seconds, then reconnect it and try again.

  • The dash cam still does not power on: Test the vehicle battery voltage with a multi meter and check the fuse, cables, and power connections.

  • The dash cam works in one vehicle but not another: Check that the power setup is suitable for the new vehicle.

  • The antennas are loose or blocked: Make sure they are firmly attached and not obstructed.

  • If the dash cam remains offline after a reset and firmware update: It will need further investigation by the support team. Please contact Nextbase Support and we can assist you further
