Getting started with iQ

Follow these steps to set up your new iQ dash cam. Use the iQ app along with the on-screen instructions on your device.

First, download the iQ app from the App Store or Google Play Store if you have not already done so.

Open the iQ app.
Select Set Up iQ.
Choose Set Up your iQ.
Select Continue.
For OBD power (recommended):
Plug the supplied cable into your vehicle's OBD connection.
For fuse box power:
In the app, select Use Fuse Box Power Instead. Connect the power cable to your fuse box as shown on screen, ensuring this is installed on a Permanent Live Fuse.
Plug the camera in using your chosen power method and press Continue.
If you are installing a rear camera, Press Set up now and follow the onscreen instructions.
If this is a front only installation, press skip.
Connect the power cable to your iQ. Start your engine and leave it running during setup. Tap Continue.
Tap Scan now
Scan the QR code shown on your iQ screen with your phone. Once scanned, this will begin the pairing process. Your iQ will download any available updates automatically. Wait for the download to finish and the confirmation message.

Mount your iQ

Peel the cover off the adhesive on your iQ, but do not mount it yet. Tap Continue.
Stick your iQ to the windscreen. Adjust its position using the live video view in the app.
If you have a rear camera:
Peel the cover off the rear camera adhesive, but do not mount it yet. Tap Continue.
Stick the rear camera to the rear window. Adjust its position using the live video view in the app.
Tuck the cables behind your vehicle's headlining using the tool provided. Tap Continue.

Congratulations, your iQ installation is complete.

Create or sign in to your account if you have not already. Enter your details and a secure password. Verify your email if prompted.
Review protection plans (Protect or Protect Plus). Select Continue without a subscription if you want to skip this now.
Add your payment details if you choose a subscription.
Your iQ is now ready to use. Explore the app to see all features.

Keep your engine running during initial setup to ensure stable power.
Test the camera angles after mounting by reviewing live video in the app before driving.
Position the iQ high on the windscreen behind the rear-view mirror for the best view.
If using fuse box power, consult your vehicle's manual or a professional installer for safe wiring.
Enable app notifications now so you receive alerts for events and updates.

If the app cannot detect your iQ after scanning the QR code, restart both your phone and iQ, then try again.
If updates fail to download, check your internet connection and ensure your phone is on Wi-Fi or strong mobile data.
If the screen freezes during setup, force close the app, reopen it, press the reset button on the camera and resume from the last step.
If your iQ does not power on, double-check the OBD or fuse box cable connections and confirm your vehicle's ignition is on.
If you see errors during account creation, use a different email address or check your spam folder for verification emails.
If subscription setup fails, verify your payment details and try again, or contact Nextbase support with your iQ serial number and app version.
