Before you start
Use the USB cable that came with your Dash Cam.
Make sure your Dash Cam has a microSD card inserted.
Keep your Dash Cam connected to power until the update is finished.
Update steps
Follow these steps to update your Dash Cam.
Press and hold the red exclamation mark (Protect) button on the Dash Cam.
While holding the button, connect your Dash Cam to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
Release the button when the Wi‑Fi button starts flashing blue. This means the Dash Cam is in update mode.
If the Dash Cam does not appear as a removable drive on your computer, disconnect it and repeat steps 1–3.
When the Dash Cam appears as a removable drive:
On Windows, open My Computer. On Mac, open Finder.
Look for a drive called NEXTBASE and double‑click it.
You should see folders named nextbase.com, nextbase.info and DCIM.
Download the correct firmware:
Download the latest firmware for your 380GW or 380GWX from the links provided in the support article or product support page.
When you click the link, a .zip file will download to your computer.
Open the .zip file and find the .bin firmware file.
Copy the .bin file to the root of your Dash Cam’s SD card (the NEXTBASE drive you opened in step 6). Do not place it inside any folder and do not rename the file.
Finish the update:
Safely eject the Dash Cam from your computer (use Safely Remove on Windows or Eject on Mac).
Put the camera back onto its mount and make sure the power cable is plugged into the mount.
The red LED on the camera will flash quickly while the firmware updates.
When the update is complete, the flashing will stop and the Dash Cam will return to normal operation.
You can now use your Dash Cam as normal with the latest firmware installed.
Troubleshooting
If the Dash Cam does not appear as a drive on your PC:
Try another USB port on your computer.
Use a different USB cable if possible.
Disconnect and repeat the steps to enter update mode until the NEXTBASE drive appears.
If the red LED does not flash when you power the Dash Cam on after copying the file:
Check that the .bin file is on the root of the SD card and not inside a folder.
Make sure the file name has not been changed.
Try formatting the SD card (after backing up important files) and copying the firmware file again.
