How Do I Edit My Dash Cam Videos With MyNextbase Player?

This article walks you through using MyNextbase Player to join clips, trim videos, add notes, create title screens, and export your edited files.

Updated over a week ago

Loading a video into MyNextbase Player

First, add your Dash Cam videos to MyNextbase Player. Play the file you want to edit, then click "Edit Video" at the top of the screen.

Joining videos together

Play a file from the file list and click "Edit Video." Select "Add video before" or "Add video after" to join clips. To remove a video, hover your mouse over it and click "Remove video."

Note: Videos must have the same resolution to join together.

Trimming a video

Drag the green Start Time marker to set the beginning of your clip. Drag the orange End Time marker to set the end. Click Continue when you are happy with your selection.

Annotating a video

Move the timeline to the frame you want to highlight. Click "Add Annotation." Use the tools to draw, circle, or add text, then position your notes where needed.

Adding a title screen

Select "Title Screen" from the editing options. Type your text in the box. Click Continue to add it to your video.

Choosing output settings

Choose your resolution – Default keeps the original quality. Lower resolution creates smaller files but reduces quality. Decide whether to remove GPS data or audio.

Name your edited file, choose where to save it, then press Continue and wait for processing to complete.

Extra tips

  • Keep resolution high when sharing important footage with insurance companies or police.

  • Save edited versions separately so your original Dash Cam files stay unchanged.

  • Use annotations to clearly highlight key moments, such as impact points or road signs.

Troubleshooting

  • If videos will not join, check they have the same resolution and were recorded by the same Dash Cam model.

  • If editing is slow or crashes, close other programs and ensure you have enough free space on your computer.

  • If the exported video has no sound or GPS data, check your output settings before processing.
