Where are iQ videos saved?
All recordings made by the iQ are saved onto the SD card and a low resolution version of each recording can be viewed and downloaded inside the iQ app by looking at the events, library and downloads tab.
iQ History
All videos can be found within the history tab in the iQ app, and all videos are organised in the reverse order with the newest videos being shown at the top of the screen and the oldest at the bottom.
The history section is split into 3 categories:

Events
This section shows you all the videos that have been protected from being overwritten by iQ, this includes all Smart Sense Parking Events and Driving Events where the cameras in-built g-sensor has detected an impact, or the protect button has been pressed.
Event files are automatically uploaded to the cloud for a number of days (Protect and Protect Plus subscriptions only). -
Library
The library section will reflect all the files on the SD card inside your iQ. Inserting your SD card into a computer to view the files will display in the same chronological order. -
Downloads
The downloads section includes all files that have been downloaded to your device.
WARNING: If you uninstall the iQ app, the files in your downloads section will also be deleted.
Finding videos
If you're looking for a video, there are several things to consider:
- When did the incident occur?
For example: 1:02pm on November 2nd 2023 - How much use has the vehicle had since the video was recorded?
If the file wasn't protected, it's possible it's been overwritten if the car has been in frequent use. A 4K iQ, with a rear cam attached, can store approximately 78 minutes of recordings onto a 64GB SD card before it starts overwriting the oldest unprotected files. - Are there lots of files that have been recorded while the vehicle was unattended? When motion is detected the camera will record short files.
Can't find what you need?
If you can't find the file you need, it's possible the file has been overwritten or deleted, please consider the following things:
- Unprotected files can be overwritten quite quickly if you do a lot of driving or are using a small capacity SD card.
- If the vehicle has been parked in an area with lots of movement, the camera might create a lot of new radar files which take space on the SD card, causing driving videos to be overwritten quickly. Reducing the range of radar will reduce the number of files written while parked.
- Protected files will eventually be overwritten if enough events are created. This will occur after the total size of all of all event (protected) files surpasses 30% of the total capacity of the SD card.
- Formatting the SD card will delete all files on the SD card and all videos from the Library tab in the iQ app.
- Uninstalling the app will delete all files you have downloaded to your phone.
How long does it take for videos to be overwritten?
The time it takes for videos to be automatically overwritten depends on several factors, including (but not limited to):
- The iQ model (1K, 2K or 4K).
- If a rear cam is plugged in.
- If Smart Sense Parking is enabled and where the vehicle is parked.
- How often the vehicle is driven.
After taking all of these factors into account, you can estimate how much recording time it takes for files to be overwritten, depending on the size of your SD card.
Please note:
The following table indicates the total storage time on the SD card and DOES NOT indicate the amount of driving time, as the card can record videos when the vehicle is left unattended if Smart Sense Parking Mode is enabled. It also does not account for any protected files stored on the SD card which will impact the capacity of recording space available.
