What is Low Car Battery Mode?
To protect your vehicle battery, your iQ will monitor the battery voltage and will remove power to your iQ if the battery voltage drops below a specified level. This is designed to prevent your vehicle battery from dropping to a level in which your vehicle ignition is unable to function correctly. Many other basic functions (such as stop/start) rely upon a healthy battery state to operate reliably as intended by the vehicle manufacturer.
Can I adjust my Low Car Battery Mode?
Yes; your Nextbase iQ app will allow you to adjust the voltage level at which the Low Car Battery Cut Off is triggered, however we do not recommend adjusting this unless you are familiar with the voltage of your vehicle battery. A battery health check is always recommended before installing your iQ.
If the Low Car Battery Cut Off level is set at a voltage which is too high, then your iQ is more likely to turn off to protect your vehicle battery, this could result in Security Events being missed when your vehicle is parked.
If the Low Car Battery Cut Off level is set at a voltage which is too low, then your vehicle battery can be drained to a point where your vehicle may not be able to start.
You can amend your low voltage cut-off in the iQ app by following the below steps.
PLEASE NOTE - Always consult your vehicle's manual before amending the voltage threshold.
- Click on iQ settings and select "Low car battery mode"
- From the next page, select "Low power cut-off"
- The next screen will show you various levels of battery level cut-off for the "Low Power Mode", select the appropriate level for your specific vehicle before proceeding.
Reminder: This will impact your battery's performance, so please consult your vehicle's manual before adjusting.
- The default setting is shown below. This is the optimum setting to protect your vehicle battery, in addition to allowing the iQ to function correctly.
