Connecting your Dash Cam (Wi-Fi)

  1. In order to view footage from your Dash Cam in the Nextbase app, edit Dash Cam settings or setup features such as Guardian Mode you will need to connect to your Dash Cam via Wi-Fi.
  2. The Nextbase app will create a high-speed direct Wi-Fi connection between the Dash Cam and your phone.
  3. To demonstrate how to connect via Wi-Fi we’ll use accessing the Dash Cam library as an example.
  4. Ensure you have paired your Dash Cam with the Nextbase app following the process above.
  5. Open the library tap, the Nextbase app will now attempt to retrieve the footage from your Dash Cam and you should see a ‘Syncing files’ or ‘Wi-Fi connection in progress’ message.
  6. If you don’t see this or it is taking a long time to connect:
    • Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on your phone.
    • If you have a VPN enabled, turn it off.
    • Disconnect your phone from any other Wi-Fi networks (e.g., home Wi-Fi) and try connecting again.
    • Disable automatic Wi-Fi reconnection, as some phones may attempt to reconnect to familiar networks, causing interference.
    • If your vehicle has Android Auto or Apple Car Play ensure that your phone is not connected to that when trying to create a Wi-Fi connection.
    • You have accepted all app permissions in your phone settings, you an access this via Settings – Apps – Nextbase app – Permissions and turning them all on.
  1. If a successful Wi-Fi connection has been created the video thumbnails will start to load on the library screen.
  2. If the Dash Cam and Nextbase app are unable to create a Wi-Fi connection you will be presented with this Wi-Fi connection failed screen.
    • Here you can manually connect to the Dash Cam Wi-Fi network by copying the Wi-Fi network password to your phone clipboard and then opening your Wi-Fi settings to find the Dash Cam Wi-Fi network.
