Piqo Unboxing and Installation

How to Install Your Piqo Dash Cam Using the 12V Power Cable

Installing your Piqo dash cam is quick and easy using the 12V power cable provided. Follow these steps to get your camera set up and ready for the road.

What’s in the Box:

  • Piqo Dash Cam
  • Spare adhesive pad (keep this in your glovebox for future use)
  • Dual USB-C 12V power supply
  • USB-C cable (angled and straight ends)
  • Warning sticker for your car window

Step-by-Step Installation:

  1. Prepare the Dash Cam
Start by attaching the Piqo dash cam to your windscreen. Use the pre-fitted adhesive pad on the mount to stick it securely. Position the camera behind the rear-view mirror for the best view of the road ahead. Remember, you have a spare adhesive pad in case you need it later.

  2. Connect the USB-C Cable
Take the USB-C cable and connect the angled end to the dash cam. This ensures a tidy, low-profile connection that won’t interfere while driving.

  3. Plug in the 12V Power Supply
Insert the dual USB-C 12V power supply into your car’s 12V socket (also known as the cigarette lighter socket). Then, plug the straight end of the USB-C cable into one of the available ports.

  4. Hide the Cable
Run the cable neatly along the edge of the windscreen, tucking it into the gaps between the trim and the windscreen using a trim tool (or something similar). This will keep the cable out of sight and prevent it from dangling.

  5. Apply the Warning Sticker
For added security and legal compliance in some regions, apply the supplied warning sticker to your car window, letting others know your vehicle is being monitored by a dash cam.

  6. Test the Dash Cam
Turn on your vehicle’s ignition. The Piqo dash cam should power up automatically, and you’ll be ready to start recording. Check the camera’s view on the screen to make sure it’s aligned correctly with the road.

Important: Using Smart Parking

If you wish to use the Smart Parking feature, which monitors your vehicle while parked and records if an impact is detected, the dash cam must be installed using a permanently live power source. This can be achieved by installing it with a Nextbase Hardwire Kit or OBD cable. The 12V power supply provided in the box will power the dash cam while driving, but it will not enable Smart Parking when the car is turned off.
