What is Guardian Mode?
Guardian Mode allows you to set speed and location limitations for your vehicle. Your iQ will send a notification when these limits are breached. This allows you to monitor your car's activity when driven by valets, mechanics and other drivers.
How does Guardian Mode work?
Speed Limit Alerts
Speed Limit Alerts allow you to set a speed limit for your iQ. If your iQ detects that it is travelling at a speed which is faster than the limit that you have set, then it will send you a notification.
After sending a Speed Limit Alert notification your iQ will continue to monitor its speed but will not send another notification for the next five minutes. After five minutes, if your car is still travelling at a speed faster than the speed limit you have set, it will send another notification.
Location Notifications
Location Alerts allow you to specify an area on a map which your iQ will monitor. If your iQ detects that it has travelled out of or into the area specified then it will send you a notification.
After sending a Location Alert notification your iQ will continue to monitor its location but will not send another notification for the next five minutes. If your iQ then travels out of or into the area specified again after five minutes then it will send another notification.
How do I enable Guardian Mode?
You can set up "Guardian Mode" using the iQ App (subscription required). Click on the More tab on the bottom right of the app, then Guardian Mode as shown below.
The Guardian Mode page allows you to toggle alerts off and on for each Guardian Mode function individually and allows you to access the settings for each function by tapping on the Adjust buttons below the toggle icons.
How do I adjust my Guardian Mode limits?
Speed Notification Limit
When you tap on the Adjust Speed Notification Limit button you can increase and decrease the limit using the buttons on either side of the Speed Value. When you are happy with the limit shown, tap on the 'Apply Changes' button to set the Speed Notification Limit.
Location Alert Area
When you tap on the 'Adjust Location' button, a map will be displayed showing the current location of your iQ and a blue circle The blue circle indicates the area that your iQ will monitor. You can drag the map to move the circle, and then pinch and zoom to adjust the size of the circle. When you are happy with the area highlighted by the blue circle - tap on the 'Apply Changes' button.
Your iQ will send a notification whenever it travels into or out of the area highlighted by the blue circle.
How do I know if Guardian Mode is turned on?
When any function of Guardian Mode is turned on then the Guardian Mode icon will be displayed on the iQ app Landing page. You can tap on the Guardian Mode icon in the map view to be taken directly to the Guardian Mode Settings page.
